One of the most stressful and terrifying moments is when you are watching a series/season finale, and you realize there isn’t enough time left in the episode for it to end the way you want.

Believe it or not, this heart-shaped balloon is actually a solid wooden sculpture. Entitled I Love You, this wonderfully deceptive sculpture was created by Seattle-based artist Dan Webb using fir, ribbon, and steel.
Those careful curves and crinkles are so convincing, no matter how long we stare at it, it’s hard to accept that this balloon isn’t really a fragile, floating, inflatable object. Were we actually standing before it, the temptation to poke it would be overwhelming.

The minute you start to strategize too much, the more you start to think you’re in control of your own fate. And you’re not, really.

"And from here on, wherever you see bigotry in the genre? Attack it. Don’t wait for it to come directly at you; attack it even if it’s hitting another group. If you won’t ride or die for anyone else, how can you expect them to ride or die for you? Understand that there are people in this genre who hate you, and who do not want you here, and who will hurt you if they can. Do not tolerate their intolerance. Don’t be “fair and balanced.” Tell them they’re unwelcome. Make them uncomfortable. Shout them down. Kick them out. Fucking fight."

"Don’t wait for it to come directly at you; attack it even if it’s hitting another group. If you won’t ride or die for anyone else, how can you expect them to ride or die for you?"

From N. K. Jemisin’s Wiscon 38 Guest of Honour speech. Click on through; there’s nothing someone like me can usefully add to this, except to tell as many people as possible to read it.
